A filter element is more than its medium. Geometry, pleat or wrap design, end caps, sealing concept and support core determine whether it fits, seals reliably and lasts. R+F FilterElements engineers and produces custom filter elements for OEMs — based on your drawing, an existing sample or a functional specification — from prototype to series.
Three ways to start
Whatever you have today is a valid starting point.
From a drawing
You have a technical drawing — we check it for manufacturability and propose the medium.
From a sample
You have an existing element — we analyse dimensions, materials and construction (reverse engineering).
From a specification
You only know the requirements — we design the element from installation space and process data.
What we define together
- Element geometry: length, inner and outer diameter, connection and installation situation.
- Filter medium and filtration grade matched to the separation task.
- Construction: pleated, wrapped or depth design; support core and outer guard.
- End caps and sealing concept: materials and seal types compatible with medium and temperature.
- Flow direction, permissible differential pressure and cleaning or replacement concept.
Reverse engineering of existing elements
If an element already exists — for example in a predecessor machine — we can analyse a sample and reproduce its function. This is also the basis of our independent replacement filters for existing installations.
Quantities and scope
Prototypes and series production are handled per project; minimum quantities are clarified on request. Matching filter housings are available on request.
Frequently asked questions
Can you build a filter element from a sample without a drawing?
Yes. We analyse the sample — dimensions, materials and construction — and derive the manufacturing specification from it.
Can you change the medium of an existing element design?
Yes. Keeping the geometry while changing the medium is a common way to improve filtration performance or service life.
Do you supply prototypes before series production?
Yes. Prototype elements are supplied for testing; after approval the element goes into series production.
Do you also supply housings?
Filter housings are available on request.
